As you will now be aware, the Commonwealth Department of Health, Turning Point and Monash University, have been collaborating on a website which allows users to run easy and comprehensive searches for Alcohol and Other Drug services anywhere across Australia. The National Drug and Alcohol Service Directory is now online, and the mobile optimised version is very near completion. Click here to visit the site.
The National Drug and Alcohol Service Directory is a really useful resource for anyone looking to link in with an Alcohol or Other Drug treatment service in Australia. This includes individual service users, primary health providers, community and public service providers, GPs and other health professionals.
Participation: All identified alcohol and drug services across Australia were mapped and received invitations or contacted to participate in the online mapping survey. This enabled services to provide current information and confirm they wish to be included. Data received was collated and confirmed before being uploaded to the website. The website includes details such as location, treatment types offered, referral processes as well as website links and location maps. Strict criteria for inclusion means that services providing evidence based treatments are prioritized.
Benefits: The website is an important resource for all primary health care providers and has potential for a broader sector wide or organisational application.
