The Area Mental Health Service in your catchment was one of ten services allocated funding for a Forensic Clinical Specialist position to deliver this initiative. The core function of these positions is to provide ready access to expert advice, specialist assessment, secondary consultation and debriefing support to the specialist mental health workforce.
An evaluation of the initiative is currently underway. As part of the evaluation, an online survey of relevant PDRS staff was conducted by Forensicare in August/Spetember 2011. The same survey will be conducted again in January 2013. I would like to request your support and participation in evaluation activities.
The online survey of PDRS staff is open between Wednesday 9 January – Wednesday 30 January 2013 inclusive. This is the second time this survey has been conducted. The survey is anonymous and aims to explore the views and experiences of staff in relation to working with clients who present with high-risk/violent behaviour. Findings from these surveys will assist Forensic Clinical Specialists to plan targeted education for PDRS staff working with high-risk clients within your service.
I would greatly appreciate your assistance with disseminating the survey within your service. To this end, please forward this email to all staff in your organisation and encourage them to complete the survey. Given the time constraints, please circulate this email as soon as possible to ensure that your organisation is well represented in the survey.
The survey is available via the following link:
If you require further information about the survey, please contact Damian Hughes, the Forensic Clinical Specialist Program Coordinator at Forensicare. Damian is available on 9947 2582 or at Damian.Hughes@forensicare.vic.gov.au
The Department also intends to conduct a focus group for managers of selected PDRSS that are supported by the Forensic Clinical Specialists. The aim of this focus group is to gain insights into your view of the strategic value of this initiative at the system, workforce and client levels. You will be contacted over the coming months regarding the evaluation focus group. If you have any queries regarding this aspect of the evaluation please contact Kon Kon, Senior Policy Officer (Evaluation), Mental Health Reform Strategy Team on 9096 5196.
