Warcom 'GONE BONKERS'
During November online computer retailer Warcom sent a marketing email to its customers. The email included a picture of a man in a straightjacket with the headline “WE’VE GONE BONKERS”.
StigmaWatcher Peter emailed Warcom’s CEO stating he was disturbed and offended by the image and language. Peter requested an explanation of Warcom’s decision to include the stigmatising content, saying he wished to be removed from the customer list until an acceptable explanation was offered.
Within hours Warcom’s CEO offered an apology for any hurt or offence caused.
